"We know we’ll run out of dead dinosaurs to mine for fuel and have to use sustainable energy eventually, so why not go renewable now and avoid increasing risk of climate catastrophe?

Trends in the Energy Market
The natural gas market remains very bullish - Prompt month NYMEX futures have risen several times above $8.00 / MMBtu.
The outlook for summer continues to favor hotter-than-normal temperatures, boosting the outlook for gas-fired electric power demand.
Natural gas production stands at 95+ Bcf per day, up slightly month-over-month from last year.
Prompt month crude oil futures also remain high.
The economy is neutral.
Forward electricity prices were up in all ISO regions, with the exception of PJM that fell. Texas prices in ERCOT rose over 7% driven by heat and generation losses.

Daily Herald Feature
Our COO, Azi Feifel, was recently featured in the Daily Herald in an article entitled A Balanced Energy ‘Diet’: Weighing Efficiency and Practicality. The article discusses the benefits and drawbacks of pursuing energy efficiency. He states that it is important to consider the downsides of any new technology, such as wind turbines and solar farms, before implementing them and argues that while there are downsides to pursuing energy efficiency, the benefits outweigh the negatives.
He also provides several recommendations for pursuing the best energy efficiency practices, including considering the downside of each energy source, using sound economic judgment, and educating oneself on the supply chain. Azi went on to say that the government must also play a role in promoting and regulating efficient energy use.
Finally, it is important to look at the big picture when making decisions about energy use because what may be the best solution for one person or family may not be the best for another.
The article concludes by urging readers to look at the big picture and do their part to promote a future with more efficient energy production.
Our CEO, Isaac Shkop, knows a thing or two about smart energy purchasing strategies. During a webinar presentation for the Chicagoland Apartment Association, he shared his insights on procuring energy efficiently.
Here are three key takeaways from the webinar:
First, it's crucial to purchase energy in small increments over time in a volatile energy market to mitigate risk.
Second, PRI has saved clients an average of 16 percent on energy costs and 60 percent on volatility over the past 18 years.
Third, purchasing 100 percent of energy needs all at once and signing long-term energy contracts at fixed rates is like playing roulette - you're taking a big gamble with no guaranteed payoff.
If you're looking to save money and reduce risk in your energy procurement, keep these tips in mind.
FROM 2014 TO 2020, PROSPECT RESOURCES SAVED A RENTAL PROPERTY GROUP $1,289,454. THE CLIENT SAVED 19.53% ON THEIR TOTAL ENERGY EXPENDITURE AND 7.5% ON THEIR ELECTRICITY COSTS.
The case study demonstrates how active energy procurement helped PRI achieve this instead of relying on long-term energy contracts that can leave lots of market risk for property managers.
